Problem
Proposals lack depth for team profiles, have poor categorization & search. Proposals cannot be easily viewed as single projects.
Solution
Expand & improve team profile information. Enable categorisation of projects. Create links between multiple proposals.
Description
There are three easy areas where more information can be added to a proposal to make it easier for people to understand and participate in the Catalyst process.
- Aggregating proposals under overarching projects - Proposals should be able to be aggregated under a single project. On the community website, proposing teams can break down their work into a number of proposals that are linked by a project they created. The project can then detail a description, roadmap and social links to give an overview of the overall project objectives and current development sprints.
- Creating team profiles - The website will allow project collaborators to have a profile that lists any social accounts and share the skills they have. This will provide more accountability and be a starting point for new team members who want to engage in a project team.
- Categorizing the proposals - Proposals are currently not well categorized and easy to filter. The website will filter through all Catalyst proposals according to topics, teams and funding success.
Ultimately the initial purpose of the projects section of the Catalyst website is to make it as easy as possible for a community member to find and understand Catalyst projects they are interested in and learn more about them.
Development roadmap
- Define the category identifiers data model and share under a open source Github profile.
- Add data structures for projects and categories to the website database
- Implement a backend to allow a team to manage a project and link their proposals
